1. Introduction

Ritualry ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Ritualry uses and where it is processed.

Ritualry is designed to be local-first: your rituals, logs, and streaks are stored on your device by default. Some optional features (such as AI ritual generation and subscription management) require network communication with third-party service providers.

2. Data We Store on Your Device

Ritualry stores the following data locally in the app's private container using SwiftData:

• Rituals: title, category, style preference, schedule, duration mode, and steps.
• Ritual logs: completion records, dates, steps completed, and optional notes.
• Streaks: current and best streak counts per ritual.
• App preferences: notification settings, quiet hours, and other settings.

We do not run advertising SDKs and we do not sell your data.

3. Data Processed Off-Device (Optional)

Some optional features require sending limited data to service providers:

• AI Ritual Generation: When you generate or remix a ritual, the app sends relevant context (category, style preference, duration, and any custom preferences you enter) to our backend (Appwrite Functions) to generate your ritual script. These requests may include standard technical metadata such as your IP address for reliability and abuse prevention. No ritual logs or personal usage history are sent.
• Subscriptions: Purchases are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which may receive purchase/receipt information and related identifiers needed to validate entitlements.

Ritual logs, streaks, and completion data are never uploaded to any developer-controlled backend.

4. Permissions

Ritualry may request iOS permissions only when needed for specific features:

• Notifications: send ritual reminders and accountability follow-ups (local notifications managed by iOS).

Ritualry does not request camera, microphone, location, or contacts access.

5. Health Disclaimer

For rituals involving health-related categories (such as vitamins or medication), the app displays a disclaimer: "Not medical advice. Follow your doctor's instructions." No dosage recommendations or medical guidance are generated by AI.

6. Third-Party Services

Ritualry may interact with the following services depending on which features you use:

• RevenueCat (subscriptions): subscription management and entitlement validation. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Appwrite (AI generation): backend Functions used to generate ritual scripts. Appwrite may process and log requests for operational purposes.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Data may be shared with the third-party services listed above only to provide the features you request (for example, generating an AI ritual script or validating a subscription entitlement).

8. Your Choices & Rights

• Delete data: you can delete rituals and logs inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data.
• Disable notifications: you can turn reminders on/off per ritual, or disable all notifications in iOS Settings.
• Manage subscriptions: you can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

9. Data Retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app. Third-party services may retain limited operational logs for a period consistent with their own policies.

10. Security

Ritualry stores data in the app sandbox protected by iOS security. We recommend using a device passcode for full device encryption.

11. Children's Privacy

Ritualry is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. International Users

When you use networked features (AI generation or subscription management), data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
